Why is your great job SO BORING?

May 29, 20252 min read

You’re great at your job — so why are you bored out of your f*ing mind?

You’re not stuck because you’re not good enough.
You’re stuck because you’re too good.

8 Reasons

You’ve figured it out. You know what you’re doing.
You can deliver in your sleep (and maybe you basically are).

People think you’re doing really well.
But what you’re really doing… is managing the boredom.

And the guilt that comes with it.
Because: “It’s a good job.”
“I’m lucky to have this.”
“What am I even complaining about?”

I’ll tell you what:
You’re not complaining. You’re noticing.

You’re noticing that “coasting” doesn’t work for you.
That just because you can do the job, doesn’t mean it’s still right for you.
That deep down, you're craving something else - something that lights you up again.

Not a dramatic career switch.
Not a total reinvention.
Just more energy, more stretch, more clarity.

This is where so many women in tech get stuck.

Not because they’re lost.
But because they’ve outgrown where they are - and they're not sure how to get to the next step.

If that’s you — pay attention.

Watch how often you:

  • Mentally check out of meetings

  • Find yourself saying “it’s fine” when it’s clearly not

  • Scroll job listings without ever applying

  • Try to fix it with productivity hacks or a new project

  • Wonder if you’re just being ungrateful

You’re not ungrateful. You’re under-stimulated.

And when women like you - smart, self-led, respected - get to this point, they often do one of two things:

1. Wait it out

Hope something shifts externally: the team, the projects, the leadership.
Meanwhile, you keep performing — and keep feeling a little less like yourself.

2. Burn it down

Quit. Pivot. Try to fix the discomfort with a dramatic change.
Sometimes it works. Often, it just brings the same questions into a new container.

But there’s a third path.

The one that starts with you saying:
“This isn’t working anymore — and I’m ready to do something about it.”

You don’t need a five-year plan.
You don’t need to explain your ambition.
You just need to be honest - and ready to move.

When you’re ready to shape what’s next - not just survive what’s now - talk to me.

I work with women in tech who are done waiting and ready to create their next chapter with clarity, self-trust, and momentum.
